Testimony

Kaitlin, my 6 year old, shared her testimony in sacrament meeting today for the FIRST time. I need to explain to family and friends who aren't members of the church and who are reading this post... Once a month (on sundays) we have what is called a testimony meeting. Instead of listening to talks about a variety of gospel topics and principles we have the opportunity to stand in front of the other members of the church and share our testimony. Testimonies are as varied as you could think but almost always contain personal experiences about how the Lord has blessed or influenced the person sharing the testimony.
Back to the story..
It was simple and sweet. She said "I know the church is true, I know Jesus is true and I know the gospel is true". As a mother, I enjoy to watch my children growing strong in the church and in living the principles which Mike and I hold so dear. Kaitlin has always been a very kind and understanding girl and she's starting to become very confident in herself, who she is and what she believes in. What a great example she is to me.

I'd like to share my testimony...
I'm so grateful for my Savior and all that he has given me. He blesses me every day of my life and when some things are really hard for me to endure, I recognize more blessings, and they're a hundred fold.
I'm grateful for my children. It's a challenge raising children who will stand up and be a light to those around them;who love the gospel and live it everyday. It's my prayer that I can lead them in the right direction.
I'm thankful for wonderful friends and family who teach and support me. What a blessing it is to be surrounded by people who care about my well being. I'm thankful for my Husband who loves me and who understands who I am. He's my best friend and I love spending time with him.

I hope that you feel the Savior's love everyday and that you're also blessed beyond measure.

Movie Review 4

Night at the Museum - Blu-ray

I loved this movie when it first came out. It's a great story with some awesome effects. The kids and I rediscovered it when we rented this in Blu-ray. I don't think I'll ever regret getting the player. It was fantasic and truly looked 3-D even on our older projection tv. I'm sure it would be even better on one of the new plasma or LCD tvs. Odds are you've already seen this movie, if not... get your little bottom to Blockbuster and rent it, you won't be disappointed.

Getting Older

This morning Kaitlin came into our bedroom and said to Mike...
"Dad, your hair is going white"!!!!
HaHa, I laughed pretty hard on that one. I guess that's what happens when your half way to 40!
I like to rub it in because Mike is 4 years older than me. I'll probably eat my words soon enough.

Check out the song of the day.

Stay young ;)

Movie Review 3

Rear Window
What a great classic movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Watched this one on a Sunday afternoon. I really enjoyed the storytelling and suspense. Starring James Stewart (It's a Wonderful Life) and Grace Kelly (High Society)this movie was centered in the apartment of a photojournalist who has been injured and is recovering. Stuck in his wheelchair he watches all his neighbours through the window. Getting to know their comings and goings he realizes that one of them has been murdered. He desperately tries to prove his theory to the police all the while being stuck at home. It wasn't scary at all which is what you'd expect from Hitchcock. The kids watched it with me and really enjoyed it.

Rescue Dawn
Amazing true story of a pilot shot down over Laos during the Vietnam War. He survives the crash but must endure a prison camp and daring escape through the jungle. He makes friends with other prisoners and keeps their hopes alive with ingenious plans to deceive the guards. This was great to watch even if you don't care for wartime movies because the story is more about one mans survival. Starring Christian Bale (The Prestige, Batman Begins) supported by Steve Zahn(That Thing You Do, Daddy Day Care) and Jeremy Davies(Saving Private Ryan, Twister). Not for the kids but I would recommend it for adults and teens.

St. Patrick's Day

I hope everyone had a good Paddy's Day yesturday. I made corned beef and cabbage for the first time and it turned out really well (if I say so myself)! I think we'll have that more often. The kids gobbled it up which surprised me because I would never have eaten it when I was a kid.

Tomorrow is the last day of school and then the kids have 5 days off for spring break. I'll have to get creative! Hopefully the weather will be nice and we can have fun outside.

Wish me luck xxx

Kaeleigh At The Park

Movie Review 2

I Am Legend

I liked this one. Little bit tired of the undead movies, but Will Smith (Persuit of Happiness, Independence Day)was so real in his performance that I didn't mind the zombies. Definately not a situation I'd like in real life but makes for good sci-fi.

Pirates:Curse of the Black Pearl

WOW! It was awesome. We own this movie but got it in blu-ray for free with our new player.

completely blown away buy the images and the title menu. What a treat, It was like experiencing the movie for the first time again only better. Blu-ray ROCKS!

Neverwas

Interesting. This movie was star studded but we hadn't heard of it before. Our video rental guy recommended it to us.

Short summary of the plot...Sorry, no idea. It is like a fairytale which flips back and forth between reality. I was constantly trying to figure all the connections between characters. This movie was ok. I don't like my head being messed with so I don't think I'll see it again. Kids wouldn't get it and it's not really intended for them anyway. Mike didn't like it.

If your into strange and deep literature then this movie is for you.

Sweet Girl

Kaeleigh has been so cute lately. She's babbling constantly which is a new development. In addition to mama, dada and hi kitty kaeleigh has started saying num-num when she's hungry.
It's adorable when I put her in the highchair and she says "mama num-num".

Movie Reviews

Are We Done Yet?

This movie was very entertaining for the kids. I thought that at times it got a bit ridiculous but as with all slap stick comedies, we must just let go and have fun. Watching it the second time was a bit better. The characters were fun and a bit cooky, especially Chuck played by John McGinley(Scrubs) but you come to love them by the end. There are no parts that would be questionable, so very suitable for children.

Beowulf

This movie had amazing graphics. I forgot it was computerized. Characters looked like the actors who voiced them. Robin Wright Penn's (Princess Bride, Forest Gump) character was lovely. Anthony Hopkins (Meet Joe Black, Amistad) and Angelina Jolie (Mr and Mrs Smith, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider) gave their usual performances. Quite grusome in parts and a bit of nudity. I wouldn't see it a second time. Don't rent it, your not missing anything.

The Contract

I really enjoyed this one. It took a while to get going as the characters were introduced but definately picked up. It wasn't a true nail bitter but I was hanging on to see what would happen in the end. Morgan Freeman (The Bucket List, The Shawshank Redemption) did a great job as usual and John Cusack (Martian Child, Runaway Jury) was pretty good too. There's some violence, as the plot is about a hitman who escapes the marshals in the wilderness and is found by a father and his son who are camping. They face challenges to get the hitman back to authories before being killed by his buddies who are in hot persuit.
Definately a thumbs up. I would watch it again.

Dodos R Us

I can't believe that I prepared for church last night and then totally forgot about the time change. We woke up fifteen minutes before we we're supposed to leave. Darn it! The kids weren't heart broken. They have a hard time sitting for two hours in Stake Conference. Usually the hour of sacrament is their limit for "suspended animation". I heard sighs of relief in unison.
