Movie Review 6

Alvin and the chipmonks

I'm pretty sure that everyone knows about these little fellas so a synopsis isn't needed.

I liked it, it's cute, they're talent has grown since the early days ;)

A good story for the kids, old and young.

Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium

The eccentric owner of a magical toy store, Dustin Hoffman (Hook, Finding Neverland) surprises the shop's manager, Natalie Portman (Star Wars, The Other Boleyn Girl) by turning over ownership to her. Jason Bateman (The Kingdom, Juno) stars as the detail-oriented accountant assigned the task of assessing the establishment's monetary value.

I found this movie enchanting with good life lessons. We watched this one a couple of times. Tons of fun for the kids.

Nim's Island

A young girl, Abigail Breslin (Santa Clause 3, Air Buddies) living on a tropical island with her scientist father, Gerard Butler (Phantom of the Opera, 300) is left to fend for herself after her dad's boat leaves him stranded far away. The resourceful youngster soon begins exchanging e-mails with the author of a book she has been reading, Jodie Foster ( Flight Plan, the Brave One).

It had a slow start but turned out to be really good. Jodie Foster was brilliant in this one as she frequently is in her roles. The kids were kept interested once the action started. An emotional ending worth the wait.

Ratatouille - Bluray

A rat named Remy dreams of becoming a great chef despite his family's wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. When fate places Remy in the city of Paris, he finds himself ideally situated beneath a restaurant made famous by his culinary hero, Auguste Gusteau. Despite the apparent dangers of being an unwanted visitor in the kitchen at one of Paris' most exclusive restaurants, Remy forms an unlikely partnership with Linguini, the garbage boy.

This is a winner! I put off watching this movie because I thought the story was a bit ridiculous and I was pleasantly surprised. Blu-ray made it great but the movie in itself was quite cleverly done. The kids and I watched it repeatedly before returning it to Blockbuster.

Definately a hit in my home!

Happy Birthday Kaitlin

Kaitlin . Taylor . Tiffany
Present time!
Chocolate cake topped w/choc icing
decorated w/ choc chips and sprinkles
Kaitlin wanted a movie party. First we ate pizza and cake, then played pin the tail on the donkey. Next it was off to the movie theater to watch Nim's Island. As luck would have it, we had the movie theater all to ourselves. Everyone enjoyed the evening...especially Kaitlin!
A big thank you to Nana Russia (Salkeld) for being the official time keeper and helping Mom survive the night.

"Start spreadin' the news..."

Mike just came home from a training meeting in New York. You might say a little green eyed monster lived in my home for a short time! He only had one night to see the sights but that's not a problem in the city that never sleeps. Mike and three others went around the city in a minivan trying to do as much a possible. There were a lot of pictures that came out too dark or too fuzzie...the Statue of Libery, Coney Island and Chrystler Building...DARN!
A few are good enough to post so without further ado..I present to you..New York City!Times SquareMy kind of building...
yummy!

Fright Of The Century

The kids and I went out for a Sunday stroll around part of the neighborhood that's still under construction. The kids noticed a large depression off the side of the road, somewhat like a ditch, and went to explore. I stayed with the baby on the sidewalk and while we were waiting I heard screaming. Braden came up over the hill shouting "Mom, quick it's really important"!!! shortly followed by Kaitlin crying hysterically. I must preceed what follows with an explanation of a past experience... A year or so ago we were involved in a ward service day in which we picked up trash at a local park. During that lovely germ invested experience Braden and Kaitlin came running up to me holding the spine of some sort of animal. That was pretty comical as the vertabrae was wiggly around in Braden's hand. Am I grossing you out yet?

Naturally, as the kids came running to me for the second time I suspected the same thing but with Kaitlin in a hysterical state I had the sinking feeling they might have discovered something terrible this time. Dun Dun Duuuh!! (drama)
I left a crying Kaitlin with the baby and nervously followed Braden to the scene of the crime. There lying in the tall grass was.... the most hidious looking...... deer bones the kids had ever seen! Did I get you? I bet you thought it was an episode of CSI:Miami.
What had scared Kaitlin to death was the fact that she was the unlucky one who tripped over the animal's severed leg!! I think it would have done me in too.
Braden was convinced that it was a mountain lion but I had to be the voice of reason and explain that a number of things could have happened and that it was probably scavenged by other animals and that's how it's head and other legs where missing.

Later on we drove over there to take a few pictures for posterity.Enjoy looking at photos of the crime scene below. Wahhahhaaa! (ghoolish laughter)

She's smiling in the picture but as soon as the shutter clicked she chewed me out for making her stand so close.

The leg Kaitlin tripped over..yuck!!
Braden, like most boys, thought this was awesome.
Poser!
